About Lynn Gant

Casual Artist | Kansas City Native | U.S. Marine Veteran

Hello! I'm Lynn Gant, a self-described “casual artist” with a serious passion for painting. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, I’ve spent my life balancing technology, service, and creativity. Now in retirement, I’ve returned fully to my first love — making art that speaks from the soul.

After serving as an I.T. Supervisor for the City of Kansas City for nearly three decades, I traded software for brush strokes. But my journey as an artist began much earlier. I studied art at Penn Valley Community College (Class of 1983) and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from the University of Missouri–Kansas City in 1986.

My work draws inspiration from everyday life, personal growth, Black culture, and the vibrant communities around me. Whether it’s bold abstracts or soulful portraits, my goal is to create art that’s approachable, thoughtful, and rich in meaning.

I proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a Combat Engineer Platoon Commander, leading and training Marines in mobility and construction. That discipline and leadership still influence my creative process today.

In addition to painting, I volunteer as a Sunday School teacher and Taekwondo instructor through my church, continuing to give back and uplift others through art and mentorship.

This site is a space to showcase my latest work, share my story, and offer my art to collectors and supporters who connect with what I create. Thank you for stopping by — and if something speaks to you, let’s connect.
